Should Bathroom Mirror Touch Backsplash?

Table of Contents

A bathroom backsplash is installed near the bottom of a wall, often just below eye level, to prevent water from running down the walls near kitchen sink areas. They are commonly used with tile materials but caulk may also serve as a less expensive alternative for homeowners on a budget.

It comes in many shapes depictions including flat marble or stone tiles, textured mosaics, striking glass mosaics and more! The width of these beautiful features can vary across 30cm widths to provide quick design updates while still making them an affordable option when compared to other types of home improvements such as remodelling kitchens or bathrooms. Presently speaking, bathroom tile backsplashes provide a very important and functional role in your home.

However, if you happen to be an aesthetics freak, there are still quite a few viable options for bathroom tile backsplash that promise to make your bathroom stand out in the crowd.

Should the Bathroom Backsplash Touch the Vanity Mirror?

Mounting a bathroom mirror so that it touches the backsplash can increase functionality. This also usually looks good, although it is possible to go too far with this design feature, especially if lacking wall space. The backsplash is part of the wall surrounding a sink or countertop. It comes into play when you are washing your hands and have to look up at your face in the mirror so that you can see how you are doing.

Where there is a backsplash, there should be a bathroom mirror mounted so that you benefit from the addition of space. This helps to increase functionality in the bathroom.

It’s possible to go too far with this idea and have the backsplash and mirror nearly touch, but nobody wants to do that. It usually looks better if you have the wall visible –even one inch–between the wall mounted bathroom mirror and backsplash. This allows for a little more freedom of movement while still providing the same benefits of mirroring the wall around the sink or countertop.

Mounting a bathroom mirror so that it touches the backsplash, is a function of the hardware that you use. The clips and dual-frame mounts available for mirrors are designed to do this, so installing them correctly should make it easy to create an unusual look in which the mirror actually comes into contact with the backsplash. In most cases, you will have two options on where to attach these kinds of hardware: the top of the frame and the middle.

This is not always a given, however. The potential problem is that clips are designed to attach to other types of hardware like shelves and walls, so they may not be compatible with your bathroom mirror, medicine cabinet or if it’s infused into or attached directly onto another piece of functional hardware such as the countertop or bathroom sink. Some people have double vanity mirrors so basically that’s double bathroom vanity problems.

Make sure you attach the hardware correctly and securely to avoid damaging your mirror. If it does come loose, use a special-purpose silicone caulking to reattach it. That should be just a temporary fix, however; make sure you contact the manufacturer if the problem persists. In most cases, they have already installed these kinds of clips or dual-frame mounts onto the mirror, but that’s not always true.

All of this is possible because you have two options for attaching hardware to your bathroom mirrors. You can either use a special adapter for light fixtures or attach the hardware directly to the frame or surface of the mirror itself without using an adapter.

If you use an adapter, be sure to leave enough room for it. This is determined by the manufacturer of the mirror and can vary depending on which kind of frame you use or in some cases, even by how the mirror hangs.

Should the Bathroom Backsplash Touch the Framed Mirror?

It doesn’t matter too much if you plan on using frameless mirrors or framed ones, bevelled mirrors, round mirrors, tall mirrors, short mirrors, planning an entire bathroom remodel, it’s important to know that the backsplash is part of the wall surrounding a sink or bath countertop. It comes into play when you are washing your hands and have to look up at your face in the mirror so that you can see how you are doing.

Where there is a backsplash, there should be a framed mirror mounted so that you benefit from the addition of space. Choose the right mirror type. This helps to increase functionality in the bathroom. If this is done properly, it can also be a good design feature, because it adds length and height to the bathroom decor.

It’s possible to go too far with this idea and have the backsplash and framed mirror nearly touch, but nobody wants to do that. It usually looks better if there is space (even one inch) between them. This allows for a little more freedom of movement while still providing the same benefits of mirroring the wall around the sink or countertop.

How High Should I Hang a Vanity Mirror?

Unlike a full-length mirror, a vanity mirror is typically hung or wall-mounted so that it is directly in front of you when you are sitting. This allows you to see yourself from head to toe while having your personal items close at hand. Some people have double vanity mirrors when the space allows for multiple mirrors. Most of them use an oval mirror but some people choose rectangular mirrors for their bathroom.

There is no set height for a vanity mirror, and there are many factors to take into consideration. Generally speaking, the taller the individual, the higher you should hang the mirror. This is because taller people will have to sit while shorter ones can stand and use it.

When hanging a vanity mirror, be sure that every single item rests on a surface before proceeding to attach screws or nails. That includes any excess wire from your power cord, which must extend beyond the wall about 15cm.

Why Should Mirrors Be Cleaned Regularly?

Mirrors are an essential element in a modern bathroom layout. They are used for all sorts of functions and it’s important that they remain clean. Washing your face, brushing your teeth, shaving, putting on makeup – these things become a lot easier with bathroom mirrors! But cleaning them can take away some of their shine. Make sure you clean both sides of the mirror every time you use it by using a wet cloth and some soap, or housekeeping wipes.

It’s also important to remember that not everything can be wiped off with a simple cloth. For example, toothpaste splatters left on the medicine cabinet mirror can easily be removed with a towel soaked with water and vinegar, lemon juice or baking soda.

An easy way to clean mirrors is to use a special spray cleaner specially formulated for cleaning glass surfaces. The mirror will become sparkling clean with minimal effort! If you prefer doing things the old-fashioned way, you can also apply some elbow grease, and use a crumpled newspaper wrapped in a soft cloth to clean the mirror.

If you have just moved into a new home, or if you plan a bathroom remodel, it’s important to remember that old mirrors are usually scratched and may even contain lead. Bathroom vanity mirrors are essential and a simple small mirror will get the job done. Not everyone has room to put a huge mirror in their bathroom.

It is always advisable to consult a professional when installing a bathroom mirror and sometimes even for cleaning old bathroom vanity mirrors.
