Samuel L Jackson’s Upper East Side home on sale for $13 million

Silver screen legend Samuel L Jackson and his wife, fellow actress, LaTanya Richardson, are selling their Upper East-Side apartment. The couple purchased the 278-square metre home from NBA basketball player Greg Anthony for $4.8 million in 2005. They are now listing the apartment for $13 million. Accordingly, they will generate a sizeable profit if the home is sold.

Located close the Central Park, the home sits on the 8th floor of a 13-storey building. Called The Leonori, the building sits between Madison and Park avenues, and comes with a full-time doorman. The apartment consists of an assemblage of three, once-seperate apartment units. It contains four bedrooms, three-and-a-half bathrooms, a casual living room space and a kitchen which allows for ample sunlight.
Other luxurious features of the home include its high beamed ceilings, classic herringbone floors, a formal dining room with skyline view and an entertainment space with its own wet bar. Ornate features, such as a claw-foot tub, black-crystal chandelier and vast walk-in closets with built-ins in the master suite, pepper the spacious home.

Jackson and Richardson, longtime New Yorkers, previously lived in a Harlem brownstone for 20 years. They sold the home for $125,000 in 1997. Now, the couple resides full-time in Los Angeles. The responsibilities of looking after a brownstone owner no longer appealing, Jackson said to the Times. Jackson also expressed that the couple wished to raise their daughter in a calmer environment than New York City.

Samuel L Jackson is best known for his roles in Quentin Tarantino movies. Most notably, he achieved an Oscar-nominated turn in Pulp Fiction. Also, he starred in action films and franchises, such as Snakes on a Plane, The Incredibles, the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the Star Wars prequel trilogy. Richardson, meanwhile, has appeared in films such as Sleepless in Seattle and Malcom X, alongside TV series like Marvel’s Luke Cage and Show Me A Hero.
All together, the apartment’s taxes and upkeep will cost around $6,000 a month.
