PGH Bricks & Pavers has introduced slimline 290mm Linear bricks to its popular Dry Pressed and glazed bricks collections, providing architects with slender and elegant proportions to create distinct residential and commercial designs.
The Australian-made Linear bricks are modular format, allowing for standard installation methods and joint returns to minimise brick cuts and any increased costs.
“This new range answers the calls from Australian architects for longer and thinner bricks that hark back to the style used by Frank Lloyd Wright in the early 1900s,” said Michelle Gissel, General Manager of Marketing and Strategy at PGH Bricks & Pavers. "Slimline bricks are emerging as a major trend and we’re proud to bring a quality, locally-produced offering to architects, builders and developers.”
Long-time user of PGH Bricks, Stuart Vokes of Vokes and Peters Architects, envisions the use of the Linear profile for a range of applications.
“These bricks are a lovely shift in proportion from the typical 230mm brick. I see them being used to create the large monolithic designs that are trending in Europe, as well as incorporated with 230mm standard bricks using a Flemish or Common Bond for residential applications. They would also work well as an internal or external paver,” he said.
Used as a feature brick or to amplify street appeal in residential and multi-residential designs, Linear bricks can make a unique architectural statement.
Dry Pressed Linear bricks measure 290 x 90 x 50mm and are available in ten colours, including new Balmerino Blend, and popular Mowbray Blue and Gledswood Blend.
The Linear glazed brick collection features 25 colours, including colourful Vibrant bricks, a strong and dark palette of Academy bricks, cutting edge Urban Metal bricks, and the soft and cool tones of the Seascape bricks.
These collections now includes three sizes – Linear, Splits (230 x 110 x 50mm) and Standard (230 x 110 x 76mm) bricks – to provide architects with design flexibility.
