Hydronic Screed is the most efficient and responsive hydronic underfloor heating system, and is suited for new constructions and renovations alike.
The hydronic pipes are installed across the floor, above insulation, at 200mm centres and to a maximum circuit length of 100m. The pipes are covered with a 50mm sand cement screed. And suitable floor finishes include tile, stone, carpet, vinyl and floating or glue down timber floors.
When in operation, heated water circulates through hydronic pipes embedded in the screed, heating the screed as it does so. The screed topping in turn releases heat gently and evenly throughout the room and can be used as a primary heat source or as a background comfort heating solution.
A variety of heat sources can be used to heat the water including gas boiler, electric heat pump, solar or wood stove. Due to the thermal mass, off-peak energy sources or solar type energy sources can be used to pre-heat the slab at lower running costs.
Hydronic Screed can be used as a primary heating system, or as an auxiliary heating solution along with other room heating systems.
