Australia has many different types of hardwood floors that come from Tasmanian Oak, Jarrah, Ironbark or Kauri trees. These beautiful wood grains range from light tan to deep browns with hints of purple in them. There are also many colours available, such as Victorian Ash, Grey Gum, Blackbutt and Australian Red Cedar.

Flooring used to be made from the salvaged timber of old buildings, but now, most flooring is made out of recycled wood or new wood. When wood is recycled it means that the wood has been chopped down and the chips have been pressed together to make a new product. Wooden flooring can be sanded down, making it thinner and more smooth. It is then painted on top of or sealed with a varnish that dissolves into the wood pores, creating an even finish that gives the floor style and beauty. All of these finished products are resistant to water and can be installed in most homes.

Wooden floors have different benefits for homeowners about their hardwood floor solutions. Wooden floors create a warm, comforting atmosphere that has been shown by tests to promote healthy sleep patterns. Wood is also strong against humidity changes, which makes it good for re-sale potential when you decide to move. Wooden flooring has three main types; solid hardwood, engineered and composite. There are many types of solid hardwood, each having its own characteristics depending on the weight, colour and grain pattern.
