Rebuilding Penn Station: New York, New York

The demolition of McKim, Mead & White’s Pennsylvania Station in 1963 represented the peak of the city’s self-destructive appetites. Now a squall of petitions, press releases, articles and speeches, from the Municipal Art Society, the Regional Plan Association, transportation groups, civic organisations, journalists at the New York Times, and a growing number of elected officials, is calling for a multi-billion dollar strategy to restore the grandeur and utility of Penn Station.
